ICYMI: Book Therapy Project Gathering Jan 22 + Podcast Recommendation
How are you, friends? How are you really? 2026 treating you okay so far?
We’re only a few days in, and it’s already a doozy (see: the news). Combined with all the year-end, holiday hubbub, and you may have missed that Book Therapy Project meets later this month, on Jan 22, to discuss Faux Feminism: Why We Fall for White Feminism and How We Can Stop by Serene Khader.
Most books I choose for book club are decidedly journalistic in nature. This one is definitely more academic. If you’re having trouble getting through the first chapter, take heart: it gets a lot easier from chapter two onwards. And the chapter on the culture myth will knock your socks off.
If the book is not on the cards for you this month and you’re interested in the topic and gathering, may I suggest this hour-long podcast episode as a backup?
In the episode, they discuss the top-line argument Khader makes in the book, the writing process (this is her first foray into writing for a general audience; we’ll discuss whether she succeeded) and then each of the myths she works to debunk. In about an hour you can get a very top-line summary of the main arguments, albeit without the real-life examples and evidence.
I hope to see you in a few weeks. Event details and sign-up below. Take it easy, friends.
